Ok...So I am officially traumatized! I have just witnessed the scariest pair of stilettos known to man. The shoe is appropriately called, "Scary Beautiful," and is the creation of artist Leanie van der Vyver and Dutch shoe designer René van den Berg. According to the video commentary on Vimeo, the shoes serve as an example of today's impossible standards of beauty.
The stilettos appear backwards on the foot, so the wearers feet point straight down the back, as if in ballet shoes, with their shin leaning against the front "heel" end of the design to balance. Look at the video below to see the model walking...VERY CAREFULLY...in the shoes. Imagine chasing your kids around with these on...
